Social media promotion is a hit or miss effort. While social media experts often tell you that the main point is to interact with your followers, they don’t just come naturally. It takes a bit more effort, especially when you want to create a buzz about a new product you’re launching.

It’s all about preparation. Before you even launch your product, you need to write and create the materials that will maximize all the features Facebook has to offer.

The Calendar

You need to start creating a calendar 2 months before your product launch. Think it’s too early? Think again. Once you start working on it, the days will fly by. Basically, we need 1 month to create the materials, and the next month to start generating the hype for your new product.

It may be hard to visualize, and organizing is not everyone’s favorite thing to do, so here’s a sample.

Try and include every single content that you intend to share that’s related to your new product

A calendar is a social media manger’s best friend. It keeps tab on everything that has to be posted and making sure that the hype starts and never ends until you want it to. If you’re going to launch your own facebook campaign you NEEED a calendar for it.

Facebook calendar 2

List down every peice of content, the person responsible for creating it and set a deadline.

The calendar should include everything from the planning to the actual execution and don’t forget the additional materials to keep the product alive.

This is just a very basic calendar, but if you need it as a guide, you can get it here.

The Materials

You got a brief look on the materials you’re supposed to prepare from the calendar above. Let’s explore each one:[Tweet “Videos have recently obtained a 135% increase in organic reach. You will want to make videos.”]

      1. Images – There are several types of image posts that you can take advantage of.
        • Profile photo
        • Cover photo – Make sure it’s 851 x 315 px
        • Banner ad – Make sure it’s 1200 x 628 px and that it complies with Facebook’s 20% text rule
        • Infographic
        • Other promotional images like teasers. Make them catchy, funny, and sharable. Don’t just focus on the brand, think of its shareability as well.

      1. Long form promotional materials like ebooks, whitepapers and reports – Depending if you have a product or services, you can always give away these types of freebies that offer valuable information for your market.

      1. Time-constrained promotions – Create promotional periods or facebook contests. The right gimmick will depend on your market. You have to think of how long these will last and what types of materials you’ll need for the promotion.

    1. Videos – I hope you have someone who can create awesome videos for your brand because videos carry the big guns now on facebook. Videos have recently obtained a 135% increase in organic reach. You will want to make videos.

The Text

If you want a successful product or service launch, you have to be THE MASTER PLANNER.[Tweet “If you want a successful product or service launch, you have to be THE MASTER PLANNER.”]

You don’t just plan images, events and offers, you also plan the text. Your product launch, social media campaign and seo campaign should work together like a well-oiled machine. Planning the text of all your social media shares will make sure:

  • you’re not missing a targeted keyword
  • there is consistent promotion online about your product
  • you’re able to distribute keywords
  • you have an equal amount of
    • fun
    • informative
    • and promotional posts.

Here is a collection of text that we prepared for our sample new product, “jeans”.
